Sr. Program Manager

The Coherent Aerospace & Defense Inc, Emerging Products & Technologies Business Unit is seeking a Program Manager to lead various Directed Energy and Active Sensing development programs and capture new business. Efforts associated with the team includes the exciting and challenging role and responsibility for the completion of a High Energy Laser Subsystem and future responsibilities for managing all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) through startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout). The program manager role has the primary responsibilities for management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of the organization programs at various levels of complexity from component production, assembly deliveries, and subsystem integration, test, and demonstration. 

This position is remote and will support the Longmont, CO and Dayton, OH areas.

The program manager responsibilities include:

Management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of the organization programs at various levels of complexity from component production, assembly deliveries, and subsystem integration, test, and demonstration. Measuring and reporting program performance Supporting in contract negotiations, contract modifications, statement of work development, budget development including recurring and non-recurring costs, schedule milestones and task development, workforce planning, and key terms and conditions. Ensuring the program team understands and adheres to contract scope and manages change through control board process Supporting program P&L forecast and adherence, internal investment planning and execution Responsibility for completion and submittal of the program deliverables per the statement of work along with all artifacts to support the contract Preparation and delivering briefings on program status to customers, executive leadership and supporting team Managing program materials and inventory to include government and customer supplied material Managing suppliers to meet program objectives  Collaborating across many IPTs and enterprise-wide business areas with effective communication skills  Lead a culture of continuous improvement through strong employee engagement Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Security, IT and Facilities to ensure efficient support of the organization. Prepare and deliver competitive cost and technical proposals to capture new business Support growth strategy development including building product and technology roadmaps Cultivate customer and stakeholder relationships to further business opportunities This person will be responsible for managing some of the most complex developments in the EP&T organization, exercising wide latitude and independent judgment to solve high-level problems.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 15+ years of relevant experience, master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of relevant experience, or PhD in a STEM discipline and 9 years of relevant experience as described above. Strong background in Directed Energy Demonstrated success as a project manager, program manager, engineering leader, capture leader, and/or business management related leader of a technology-oriented programs.  Experienced in leading teams, aligning organization goals with employee objectives to meet high quality customer deliverables. Capture Knowledge and Experience  Experience with lasers and optical systems supporting key mission areas such as Directed Energy, Active Sensing, and Lasercom. Experience with high impact rapid acquisition customers such as ONR, DARPA, RCCTO, AFRL, Space RCO, SDA, and DoD prime contractors Citizenship required: United States Citizenship 

Skills

Must have or able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher) Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office products.  Excellent communication skills, presentation skills, and team leadership skills.
