Your Role at KIK

The Sr. Project Engineer is a critical member of the engineering team and leads and supports a variety of projects and initiatives including process improvements, EHS projects, packaging cost savings, new product development, supplier sourcing, equipment and process testing, quality initiatives, and documenting of a variety of manufacturing and packaging protocols for our Pool consumer products business.

This position will report to the Plant Manager, and will be located in our Ontario, CA production facility for Pool products and may travel occasionally to other manufacturing and test sites throughout the US as needed. The Sr. Project Engineer will focus primarily on critical projects in the Ontario facility and coordinate heavily with the plant leadership team. 

What You’ll Be Doing

Working with the local plant team, identify critical projects to support production increases and improvements, including process, packaging, and plant construction/infrastructure areas Identify problems, develop solution proposals, and carry them through the capital project approval process Assemble and lead small cross-functional project teams in the execution of capital projects Manage all phases of capital projects – carry each project from initial scope definition, installation, commissioning startup and return to operation Manage multiple capital projects within budgeted cost and time constraints using internal resources and outside contractors Work with maintenance and continuous improvement staff in troubleshooting equipment and process problems and identify opportunities for improvements Prepare project cost, justifications, and benefits; manage schedule, track and report costs, and final results Develop bid package documents, review vendor quotes and propose the most appropriate combination of equipment & resources Develop operating procedures for new and existing equipment and processes Prepare project documentation including preliminary drawings, as built drawings, operating instructions, maintenance requirements etc. Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities on production lines and in blending/compounding areas

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; degree in Industrial, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred 5 or more years of electrical or mechanical project and contractor management experience in a manufacturing plant Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities Ability to lead cross-functional teams in project execution with a strong sense of urgency and organization Manage multiple capital projects, ensuring on-time delivery within budget Experience in specifying, procuring, installing, commissioning, and starting up automated equipment Proficient in packaging and automated systems, including chemical feed, batching, fillers, cappers, case erectors, packers, and palletizers Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD Knowledge in chemical GMP requirements strongly preferred Familiarity with Allen Bradley instrumentation and PLCs strongly preferred Travel up to 25%

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. This position has a base salary range of $135,000 – $145,000. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
