The UHealth-University of Miami Health System IT Department has an opportunity for a full-time Sr. Project Manager, IT.
The Sr. Project Manager, IT leads and directs high-priority projects, which often require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration. Additionally, the incumbent oversees all aspects of projects over their entire life. Further, this employee assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, identifies resources needed, and develops a schedule to ensure timely completion. In addition, the Senior Project Manager, IT interfaces with all parties affected by projects, ensures adherence to quality standards, and reviews project deliverables. Moreover, an employee in this position performs administrative and management duties related to appropriate tracking of Information Technology projects and trains personnel within the organization. The Sr. Project Manager, IT will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Vice President (SVP), Chief Information and Digital Officer in managing and executing various IT projects within the University of Miami. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who can handle administrative duties, coordinate project activities, and ensure seamless communication between the IT department, C-suite executives, and stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
Manages projects with support staff, provides them with a clear understanding of the department’s mission, and directs them in achieving this mission.Monitors the performance of the support technicians for quality assurance and ensures that assignments are accomplished as scheduled and according to specified objectives.Coordinates the efforts of the functional departments to ensure that the projects are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the project charters. Interfaces with customers on schedules, meetings, and problems. Keeps customers informed on the project status.Anticipates potential schedule or priority delays and initiates plans for alternative actions.Creates strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.Manages changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs, using appropriate verification techniques, to keep the project plan accurate and updated.Ensures a common understanding of project goals by setting expectations in accordance with project plans.Records detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders to establish project deliverables.Pursues ways to improve operations and provides management with productivity reports.Establishes priorities which meet the departmental goals and objectives and identifies areas of improvement.Implements an action plan or initiative to achieve goals and objectives.Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.Manage the SVP’s calendar and organize/coordinate internal and external meetings, workshops, and events.Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items.Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.Draft and edit correspondence, presentations, and reports for the SVP.Facilitate the development and management of project plans as requested by the CIO or other senior IT leaders.Ensure accuracy, relevance, integrity, and accountability of all IT project plans as they relate to strategic objectives.Maintain and deliver scheduled executive level dashboards as directed by the CIO or other senior IT leaders.Assist in the development of communication plans and of any requested content for identified strategic priorities.Ensure that the SVP is well-informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities.Department Specific Functions:
Manage the SVP’s calendar and organize/coordinate internal and external meetings, workshops, and events.Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items.Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.Draft and edit correspondence, presentations, and reports for the SVP.Facilitate the development and management of project plans as requested by the CIO or other senior IT leaders.Ensure accuracy, relevance, integrity, and accountability of all IT project plans as they relate to strategic objectives.Maintain and deliver scheduled executive level dashboards as directed by the CIO or other senior IT leaders.Assist in the development of communication plans and of any requested content for identified strategic priorities.Ensure that the SVP is well-informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fieldMinimum 7 years of relevant experienceKnowledge of business and management principles.Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
