As a member of CIBC’s team, the Senior Project Manager, IT is a seasoned expert responsible for overseeing the day-to-day project activities of complex projects of a tactical nature, ensuring project control procedures and policies are adhered as per technology’s project performance standards. The role works with minimal direction, applying deep knowledge in their field of expertise to manage the delivery of project management best practices and processes including reporting, project planning, and support activities. The Senior Project Manager, IT uses significant latitude in determining objectives and leads employees in the development of analytical approaches, while establishing and maintaining client, senior management, and project manager relationships. In addition, the role provides status updates and progress reports to project stakeholders to manage expectations related to scope and timeline constraints.

How you'll succeed

Project Planning & Management – Lead large-scale, complex cybersecurity and infrastructure delivery projects, ensuring successful execution within scope, timeline, and budget.Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project.Mitigate risks and ensure projects align with business goals.Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to deployment, monitoring, and closure.Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration – Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services.Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.Collaborate across teams and provide regular updates to stakeholders.Develop trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.Technical Oversight - Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to design, develop, and deploy secure IT infrastructure and systems.Ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST).Manage vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and the implementation of security improvements.Coordinate the development, deployment, and maintenance of servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure.Monitor technology trends and recommend upgrades or innovations to align with organizational goals.Facilitate system migrations, integrations, and optimization initiatives.Risk and Issue Management - Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.Establish contingency plans and escalate critical challenges as necessary.Leadership and Collaboration - Liaise with cross-functional teams, including technical experts and external contractors, fostering collaboration and accountability.Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members to enhance team performance.

Who you are

You can demonstrate at least 8+ years of experience in project management, ideally within the financial services or technology industry with a strong focus on cybersecurity and infrastructure delivery.Proven track record of managing large and complex security or infrastructure projects involving servers, networks, and cloud solutions.Experience with end-to-end project cycles, including planning, execution, and post-implementation review.In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, practices, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, virtualization, and cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure).Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Microsoft Project, or other project management software.You have experience with waterfall and agile methodologies and knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).You have experience with project and issue management tools such as MS Projects, ServiceNow, JIRA and have a strong understanding of project financials. Nice to have understanding/experience of ITIL framework and Planview.Strong communication and leadership abilities.You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study. It’s an asset if you have your PMP and CISSP designation.You embrace and champion change.
