GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Engineer, Supplier Quality drives, coordinates, and performs activities associated with Supplier Quality programs within Newell’s Home and Commercial Business. The individual will work with suppliers to develop the right quality systems to support qualification of new products materials, and/or processes.  The individual will also resolve defective material issues using root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions. This role priority is to develop nearshoring to NA and LATAM and support the development of new local sourced FG or raw materials. The role will also support the one Newell Quality and act as a resources for other segments as needed.

 

PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks & Responsibilities
•    Work and communicate with Suppliers to achieve the right quality level to become a supplier to Newell Brands
•    Work with product development teams including the factory to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
•    Develop and implement procedures for random audits on raw materials, work in process and finished goods to verify product specifications.
•    Qualify and develop new suppliers for finished goods/material suppliers.  
•    Interface with engineering and manufacturing to perform root cause analysis of non-conformances and drive closure ofcorrective actions.
•    Support PPAP completion via data collection, analysis and verification for suppliers in the assigned region

•    Gather and analyze data to determine if existing processes and equipment have statistical process capability with respect to engineering standards.
•    Participate in projects to reduce COF (specifically: Plant Scrap and Warranty Complaints)
•    Work with suppliers to resolve defective material issues, using root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
•    Work with suppliers to achieve and maintain continuous quality improvement via several tools including but not limited to process audits
•    Maintain and Execute a supplier surveillance plan for the assigned region including independent scheduling of audits and tracking and improving KPIs
(at a minimum: validate all process / product parameters) from external suppliers based in the assigned geographic region

•    Work collaboratively with all segments and functions as needed
•    Perform other duties as assigned or requested

This role should require minimum supervision and can make assertive and sound decision with regards to the Supplier Quality programs

Suppliers Customers Supply Chain and Logistics Quality team R&D

High problem-solving skill is required so that all issues are addressed in the quickest manner possible and to provide the most meaningful solution.

Interpersonal Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively with external suppliers/stakeholders and all levels of the organization to negotiate, influence and enforce Quality and Company policies

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

Thorough knowledge of quality methods and systems (statistics, reliability, sampling, and auditing, problem solving). Extensive problem solving background Multi-lingual (Fluent Spanish and English)

Preferred:

Experience in various types of manufacturing. Specific knowledge in the plastics, metals, or electronic goods preferred. ISO / QS / TS / FDA quality system working knowledge and auditing experience preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

Must have minimum of 5 years of supplier quality experience

 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Required:

Ability to execute Quality methods and systems (statistics, reliability, sampling, and auditing, problem solving).  Problem solving background ISO / QS / TS / FDA quality system working knowledge and auditing experience 

Preferred:

Experience in various types of manufacturing.  Specific knowledge in fast moving consumer goods preferred.

 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT(i.e. Software, Project  Management, Computer Skills etc)

•    Microsoft Office software skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
•    Minitab / SPC

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (i.e. Travel, etc)

•    Frequent travel expected within the assigned geographic region and continued vists to target suppliers
