Summary:

 

We are looking for a Senior R&D Engineer for our test engineering team on Precision Guidance Technologies. The Senior R&D engineer will own a wide range of product development and test engineering scope supporting our contracted and internally funded programs. In this role, you will work with other team members to execute complex programs from concept through development, qualification and production. You will apply creative technical solutions through a high-level degree of engineering skills and principles including mechanical design, structural analysis, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. Work will include the verification of product design through extensive test campaigns. You will plan out detailed test programs, hardware requirements and schedule to execute the planned activities. You will work with both internal and customer IPTs to plan, coordinate and execute test campaigns that will be conducted at GD-OTS and external facilities.

 

Major Position Responsibilities Conducts research and development activities for an organization or business unitApplies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activitiesSummarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodiesAssesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budgetDevelops technical documentations for all projects

 

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in general Engineering or specialized Engineering5-7 years experience relevant to the positions functional area

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical engineeringStrongly prefer Master of Science Degree in EngineeringWorking understanding of basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts including thermal and structural engineeringExperience in planning and executing successful test programs for complex aerospace products.Ability to analyze test data and verify compliance against system requirements.Ability to work with other functional teams in the accomplishment of hardware development, fabrication, assembly and testIndependently evaluate, select, and applied standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications for the solution to specific engineering problemsPrevious working knowledge of Creo, Windchill and Jira. Ability to translate general customer requirements into products, specific requirements and program elements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong computer skills, administrative data control, scheduling and team interfaceMust be able to possess strong, planning, execution and multitasking skills and have demonstrated ability to re-prioritize on the flyPosition requires a high degree of analytical aptitude with strong problem solving skillsRelies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasksWorks under limited supervisionLooks for ways to improve and promote qualityMust be able to manage quickly changing priorities while meeting deadlinesWorks within the highest level of integrity, ethics and safetyOperates under minimal direction and exercises moderate to independent judgmentDecisions are guided by policy, procedures and business plan

Other Requirements:

Proficiency with MS Office 365 toolsProfessional demeanor and presentation skills for frequent meetings, presentations, and site visitsWillingness and ability to travel up to 25% of time

Pay Range (USD) The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the range during the hiring process: $85,733.00 - $159,218.00 Benefits Employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and basic life insurance as well as pre-tax spending accounts. Employees are also able to enroll in the company's 401k plan and are eligible for the Non-Contributory Retirement Contribution.
