About the role:
In this exciting role, you will work in the Interventional Spine space to provide expert material science support for new and existing products. Mitigate technical and budgetary risks. Set up, operate, and/or maintain the Engineering Sciences Lab. Conduct and supervise a broad range of experiments from discovery to formal verification/validation testing. Utilize expert experimental methods and statistical techniques. Lead studies for preclinical work including protocol development, scheduling development, planning, test execution, report generation, and assuring compliance to applicable standards. This position will be helping to advance the company’s minimally invasive low back pain technology, Intracept.

Your responsibilities will include:
Successful completion of complex engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigation (animal and clinical studies), and report preparation. Design of single use disposable medical instruments using injection molding, metals, and special processes. Utilizing SolidWorks (or similar) CAD packages for 3D design work Leveraging knowledge of sterilization, biocompatibility, shelf life, & packaging to inform design decisions and accelerate project schedules. Establishing and maintaining development efforts with leading research universities as required. Meeting with global thought leaders in discipline or technology. Studying and understanding relevant published articles and works for application to company projects and initiatives. Selection techniques to solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations. Summarizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from complex test results. Designing and preparing complex reports to communicate results to technical community. Designing and coordinating complex engineering tests and experiments. Coordinating, managing, and documenting project goals and progress and recommending appropriate revisions. Assessing the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment. Translating customer needs into product requirements and design specifications. Responsibility for engineering documentation. Working cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. May provide training and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers. Demonstrating PDP/TPD system knowledge through delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables. Consistently generating innovative and unique solutions to market needs and submits idea disclosures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined products, processes, or equipment. May provide oversight of Manufacturing Site for Quality, Manufacturing, and Project related activities.
Required qualifications:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of design/development experience in the medical device industry, or A.A. degree and 6+ years of work-related experience in the medical device industry. Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD system(s).Preferred qualifications:
Experience with Orthopedic or Spine devices a plus. Experience with Single use disposable tools a plus. Experience with sterilization, biocompatibility, shelf-life testing a plus.
The anticipated annualized base pay range this full time position working at this location will be from $91,500 - $173,800, plus annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements) and the value of core and optional employee benefits being offered at Boston Scientific (BSC), which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. BSC considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs. Actual compensation may be otherwise adjusted if the position is filled outside of the intended geographic location.
