Sr. R&D Technician (Sign on Bonus)

Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Senior R&D Technician to join our team in Monroe, WI. The Senior R&D Technician is responsible for wiring, firing, and testing burners in the lab.

Signing Bonus Details (if applicable): 

Qualified Technician candidates with 3-5 years of relevant boiler experience will receive a $2500 signing bonus!  ($1500 paid upon hire, and $1000 paid after 90 days) Qualified Technician with +5 years of relevant boiler experience will receive a $5000 signing bonus! ($3000 paid upon hire, $2000 paid after 90 days)

Essential functions:

Have knowledge of basic electrical (120VAC, 480/3/60), burner controls, transformers, and transmitters.

Knowledge of PLC’s (parallel positioning) a plus

Have knowledge transformers, transmitters, electrical systems, and other burner controls. Wire all controls and motors for Watertube and Firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment. Able to troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of burners. Rebuild control valves and regulators. Build and test control panel using Engineering wiring schematic and layout. Trim out Firetube and Watertube boilers. Assist departments as required. Reads blueprints and wiring schematics. Determines valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any burner. Able to fire and set combustion on burner with all types of electrical controls. Able to train other employees on the operation and controls of burners. Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitors. Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results. Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Support peers and management with internal and external projects. Adhere to company policies. Travel Expectations (up to 10-25%). Other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience: 

Three (3) years of burner experience preferred in an electrical and control environment. Must be able to read and work from blueprints and schematics Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions Must have a broad knowledge of burner controls Mechanical and electrical background a must Must have the ability to troubleshoot burners and auxiliary equipment Must have the ability and knowledge to trouble shoot systems with no schematic

Physical Skill & Effort: Requires stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, and lifting 50 pounds, working in confined and elevated areas, and prolonged standing

Working Conditions and Hazards:  Some work in physical plant environment where plant orientation may be required, and safety precautions are required.  May encounter some unpleasant working conditions of brief duration.  Little to no contact with hazardous conditions.
