What you will be doing
Responsible for leading a team of schematic experts to deliver high-quality, data-driven schematics that align with the merchant’s category strategy. The Sr. Schematic Manager oversees the production of schematics for high-impact categories, including those with significant local variations and complex Direct Store Delivery (DSD) categories. This role involves collaborating with National and Division Merchants, Cross-Functional Teams, and CPG partners to create locally relevant schematics for Albertsons’ 2,269 stores across 12 operated divisions. The Sr. Schematic Manager acts as the company’s expert in schematic technology, working closely with the Product Team to test and implement technological enhancements. The Sr Manager is essential in providing ongoing schematic education on new capabilities and process changes to team members, cross-functional teams, merchants, and CPGs. These efforts are crucial in driving sales and market share, thereby contributing to the overall profitability and success of Albertsons Companies
The position will be based in Pleasanton, CA, or one of our main regional offices.
Main responsibilities
Oversee the creation of schematics for approximately 25% of the store, focusing on categories with higher degrees of complexity and locality (ex. Pantry, Beverage, Chips, Cookies/Crackers) Collaborates closely with CPG suppliers on high-impact DSD categories to set goals, timelines, and expectations for schematics. Ensures that the schematics align with the overall strategy, positioning Albertsons for growth Leads team by example, empower team members, and provide technical and strategic guidance for team member development Collaborates closely with National and Division merchant teams to achieve unified goals, maintaining a positive and constructive approach even in difficult situations Guides the team in developing high-impact, locally relevant schematics that enhance sales, profitability, and market share, while adhering to the Gold Standard and crucial deadlines Drives the team to meet key performance metrics and sets industry standards by applying knowledge, experience, and resources to achieve quantifiable results Allocates schematic resources efficiently, sets clear goals, monitors progress, and guides the team through challenges and changes smoothly Understands and manages Reset/NICI shelf activities, schematic tasks, timelines, and project milestones, ensuring timely issue escalation and risk mitigation Expert in schematic tools and reporting & analytics, generating actionable insights and driving strategic results Trains and develops team members, promotes technology enhancements, and strives for continuous improvement in schematic technology Provides clear and timely communication, shares insights and progress with stakeholders, and ensures alignment by completing the feedback cycle Possesses a strategic outlook, anticipates potential pitfalls, and leverages expert knowledge of schematics and technology to highlight schematic tools benefits for ACI shoppers. Embraces new ideas, challenges the status quo, and stays informed on current trends and developments in merchandising and schematics Integral in discovering, process creation, training, and integration of external or global schematic talent Leads schematic efforts for ad-hoc testing and special projects focused on innovative ideas Acts as the company’s expert in schematic technology, overseeing the testing and implementation of technological enhancements Delivers continuous schematic education on new capabilities and process changes to team members, cross-functional teams, merchants, and CPGsThe salary range is $105,900 to $137,580 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position are also eligible for a quarterly bonus.

What we are searching for
BA/BS degree preferably in Marketing, Business, Economics, or equivalent field. MBA a plus. Minimum 2 years of experience in a schematic production environment Minimum 2 years of managerial and supervisory experience in Merchandising, Marketing, or Retail Leadership Prior Schematic Leadership experience preferred Minimum 5 years of experience in food retail merchandising Proficient in using PCs, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project. Expert knowledge of retail, CPGs, and shopping behavior. Extensive knowledge of space planning/schematic tools (Symphony i2e, Apollo, Blue Yonder, Relex) Extensive experience with merchandising, schematic production, analyzing schematic data Extensive knowledge of store reset activity, including implementing schematics at store Preferred knowledge of Albertsons Companies operations, including in-house data and OMNI tools, store stocking systems Extensive knowledge of food and non-food products Proven strategic management experience, transforming vision into actionable strategies. Strong project management, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills Ability to develop and champion new ideas and solutions Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with management Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail, high initiative, and results orientation Extensive understanding of the relationship between product and shelf space.
