Job Description
We are looking to welcome a Senior Scientist (m/f/d) Chemistry in Animal Health to join our team in Schwabenheim, near Mainz, on a fulltime and permanent basis.
You will join our Chemistry group within the Drug Discovery department and contribute to inventing novel medicines by applying innovative synthetic chemistry, analytical techniques and data analysis. As a chemist, you will work in highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to meet the challenges posed at various stages of the drug discovery process and in different therapeutic areas.
The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Propose new synthetic routes to target compounds and intermediates thereof using literature, retrosynthetic analysis and computational tools.Participate in the design of new biologically active compounds, in the analysis of complex datasets for the generation of structure activity relationships in the hit to lead and lead optimization phases.Participate in the development of efficient chemical processes towards drug candidates, while complying with high safety standardsMentor and lead other colleagues by providing technical and scientific guidance.Present own work clearly and concisely to stakeholders, through written and verbal communications.Collaborate with chemistry colleagues as well as with project stakeholders from other groups within Drug Discovery and R&D.Qualifications
Education:
Ph.D. in organic chemistry with strong background in synthetic organic chemistry is required. Further post-doctoral experience in academic or industrial laboratories (1-2 years) is preferred.Skills Required:
Solid knowledge in synthetic organic chemistry and in modern analytical methods (e.g., NMR, HPLC/MS) as well as data interpretationAbility to work collaboratively and effectively within high performing teams as well as independentlyRational, innovative and creative approach to problem solvingGood trouble-shooter, support the decision-making process to address challengesBackground in either medicinal chemistry or chemistry process research is an assetEffective communication skills, both verbal and writtenBusiness fluency in English and German (both verbal and written)Our Benefits:
