About the role
Kerry is seeking a Research, Development and Application Senior Scientist for a key role supporting the growth of the Pharma Fermentation portfolio. Reporting to the Pharma RD&A Manager, this position is responsible for executing on the business strategy by creating market relevant and differentiated products that meet the requirements of customers and consumers, utilizing Kerrys broad and industry leading portfolio of technologies. This role is part of a team of RD&A Scientists and Technologists that are responsible for the development of cell culture and fermentation solutions for the BioPharma and Industrial Fermentation markets. Strong communication skills are critical as the day-to-day activities involve cross-functional collaboration with Product Management, Business Development, Marketing, etc.
What will you do?
+ Lead the design and execution of fermentation experiments to develop new products and optimize existing processes.
+ Scale up processes from high-throughput small scale to benchtop-scale fermenters.
+ Develop and implement strategies to improve fermentation efficiency, yield, and product quality.
+ Analyze experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions and recommend process and product improvements.
+ Maintain detailed records and prepare technical reports.
+ Work closely with Technical Support, Operations/Process Technology, Quality, and Product Management to ensure efficient and high-quality handling of customer queries and support deliverables.
+ Prepare documentation for marketing, quality, and regulatory submissions.
+ Provide expertise and guidance on fermentation technology and microbiology to junior scientists, customers, and internal stakeholders.
+ Stay updated on the latest scientific advancements and industry trends.
+ Identify and evaluate new technologies and methods to enhance fermentation processes related to customer applications.
+ Stay abreast of advancements in fermentation science and biotechnology trends.

What will you need to be successful?
+ PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Engineering, or related field.
+ 5+ years of hands-on experience on fermentation, bioprocess development or related.
+ Strong team-player, with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
+ Bioreactor/fermenter operation and Design-of-Experiment experience
+ Product development or customer project execution experience is a plus.
+ Skilled at written and verbal communication, documenting and sharing experimental methods, data, outcomes, and conclusions to diverse audiences.
+ Ability to identify issues and adapt experiments on-the-fly, a skill facilitated by strong attention to detail and a willingness to ask for help.
+ Skilled at prioritization and navigating ambiguity with a positive demeanor.
+ Curiosity and a willingness to push creative boundaries.
Compensation Data
The typical hiring range for this role is $91,404 to $138,358 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
