You will also have access to our R&D Academy, designed to develop our team and allow you to grow in our great organisation. **About the role** This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the QC Microbiology laboratory, Manufacturing/Packaging Operations and Facilities. As a Site Hygienist, we are looking for a proven leader who can engage the team to not just deliver but identify and execute opportunities for improvement. • Provision of microbiological expertise for factory operations and design, regulatory submissions, audit, microbiological testing, validation activities and projects. • Provision of hygienic design guidance and risk assessment for both new factory installations and existing equipment working with Project and Departmental Engineers. • Responsible for the overall management and direction of the QC Microbiology Laboratory ensuring that analysis is provided on time, laboratory KPIs are met, and that the laboratory remains in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice. • Developing good working relationships and participating in multidisciplinary teams within the factory to drive improvements in microbiological quality assurance. **Your responsibilities** • This role requires a high level of microbiological expertise ensuring required hygienic design requirements are upheld, potential microbiological contamination risks are suitably controlled, microbiological assessments and data is provided for regulatory submissions and microbiological testing is correctly conducted and reported. • Works closely with Release for Sale personnel on assessment of microbiological risks and support for batch release issues. • Supports the Global Hygienist for development of hygienic design and microbiological guidance documents. • Ensuring provision of microbiological expertise by working with Engineering teams on both new factory installations and assessment of existing equipment. • Driving the site hygienic design risk assessment program, completing hygienic design assessment checklists and FMEA risk assessments as required ensuring microbiological risks are suitably controlled and any requirements for CAPEX investment are escalated. • Provision of Hygienic Design Awareness training for Engineers, Operations, Quality and Technical teams. • Maintaining knowledge and expertise by review of relevant literature. • Working with the Global Hygienist to develop hygienic design and microbiology guidance and to ensure the site is aligned with Global standards. • Chair of the Site Water Systems meeting and ensuring water systems onsite comply with required standards. • To both lead and support investigations using problem solving skills to enable effective root causing of quality issues and implementation of corrective and preventative measures. • To provide microbiological expertise for regulatory submissions and assessment of microbiological testing requirements. • Providing microbiological expertise for regulatory authority inspections. • Conduct internal and external quality audits as required. • Overall direction for the management of the QC Microbiology team ensuring provision of required microbiological testing, factory environmental monitoring, delivery of microbiological training courses, testing to support engineering or validation projects and progression of microbiological quality assurance improvement activities. • Ensure the Microbiology team has the required knowledge and resources in place to comply with international standards of GLP, GMP and Health & Safety, • Ensuring correct systems are in place so all microbiological test methods are successfully validated, and all required laboratory procedures are in place and correctly followed. • Ensure the Microbiology team has required knowledge so that out of specification / out of trend results are thoroughly investigated and microbiological failures are escalated promptly. • Ensure the Microbiology team correctly maintains laboratory equipment ensuring all equipment is successfully validated with relevant procedures, documentation and training in place. • Ensuring trending of microbiological data is conducted effectively so that deviations from normal levels are identified and actioned in a timely manner. • Continually review for improvements to laboratory best practices and improvements to optimise microbiological test methods. • Ensuring the Microbiology laboratory operates within budget and seeking improved ways of working to increase the laboratory cost effectiveness. **Deliverables/ indicators of success** • Can be counted on to consistently deliver laboratory performance targets. • Manage laboratory to deliver within budget. • An engaged and high performing team. • Successful inspection from internal and external audits • Healthy, working relationship between cross-functional business partners (Operations, Facilities, Engineering). **Professional qualifications** • BS in Science (Microbiology). • 5+ years of experience in a QC laboratory or similar setting. • Experience in Facility design is desired **The experience we're looking for** • Proven experience in a similar role within the business or the pharmaceutical or an associated industry. • Demonstrated people management skills. • High level of microbiological knowledge and expertise for testing methods, laboratory management and factory facilities/equipment. • Good understanding of pharmaceutical document systems. • Working knowledge of IT systems and their validation • Ability to understand and resolve technical issues using root cause analysis techniques. **_This role is not currently sponsoring visas or particular the Operations, Facility and Engineering Teams. • High attention to detail to identify areas where a system is not sufficiently robust but also be able to present a solution to improve the system. • Be able to present a clear process flow and display ways in which improvements can be made with existing or new technology. • Ability to develop others that ultimately supports operational You will be rewarded in line with Reckitt's pay for performance philosophy. **US salary ranges** USD $97,000.00 - $145,000.00 **US pay transparency** The base salary range for this role will vary based on experience in job and industry, training and education, skills relevant to the position, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to the base salary, the position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is subject to change each year.
