Sr. Software Dev - Genomics - Information Services

JOB SUMMARY:
The Sr. Software Developer will contribute to the development of an innovative solutions that support the business operations for Rady Genomics Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM) including secondary analysis pipelines, genomic sequencing instruments, and cloud platforms.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Developing and maintaining mission-critical software services and solutions
-Ensuring software architecture aligns with user needs to bring high-value solutions to complex business problems
-Comfortable working in an Agile team environment
-Leveraging expertise in investigation and resolution of technical problems within the department
-Maintaining awareness of industry trends and evaluate the applicability of new software technologies to the latest user needs
-Driving innovation and contributing ideas to software road mapping
-Contributing to software architecture designs for complex systems
-Providing mentorship and guidance to junior members of the team
-Effectively interacting with end users to ensure needs are understood and implemented per RCIGM strategic objectives and direction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
4 Years of Experience
B.S (Major or Minor) in Computer Science or related field
5-20 years hands-on experience in software development, application integration and devops
5 years of Python experience
Full stack web development using JavaScript frameworks, back end application server and database services
Hands on application integration such as API development, REST services and/or messaging systems
Prior experience in reengineering legacy applications from scratch
Experience with cloud services and deployment in the cloud
Architecture and design experience
Solid software development best practices using git, unit testing, jira and confluence
Mentor other junior developers and application specialists
**The expected hiring range for this position is $52.95 to $72.81**
