Summary

As a Sr. Software Engineer, is responsible for the software architecture and design in a fast moving, collaborative Agile development environment. In this role, one oversees plans, design, development, and testing of software systems to support autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles. As an experienced engineer in the field, one uses professional concepts in developing resolution to mission critical issues and broad design matters.

Position Responsibilities

Software development in support of AV’s autonomy and mission systems technology roadmapCreates software design documentation according to software process requirementsPresents at and leads internal and external software design reviewsContributes to process improvement efforts and ensures compliance with coding standards Derives software architecture and algorithm design from detailed software requirementsWorks closely with multiple teams of software developers and reports updates to senior managementOperates in a continuous learning environment and provides knowledge transfer and mentoring to less experienced engineersActs independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill s & Experience)

An advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceMinimum 8-12 years of relevant experience in embedded Linux systems or GPUsExperienced with formal and structured software lifecycle development processFamiliar with software design patterns, SDLC, and STLCExpertise in one of the following: C++, C, and/or PythonExperienced working with common protocols such as TCP, UDP, RS-232, CAN, I2C, SPIExperienced writing unit tests and automated testing frameworksExperienced with Agile Software Development Process ManagementDemonstrated familiarity with source code configuration management tools such as Git as well as familiarity with CI/CD tools, IDEs and debuggersWillingness to travel locally (Occasionally)

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

M.S. or PhD is preferredExperience with computer vision and machine learning, especially on embedded systemsExperience with UAS, drones, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or other embedded systemsFamiliar with real-time control systems, especially advanced estimation techniquesDemonstrates capacity as an innovator and subject matter expert in the fieldDemonstrates understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, database, and operating systems. A basic knowledge of networking is preferredDemonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutionsDemonstrates effective listening, questioning, clarifying and summarizing skills to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settingsAble to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of dutiesDisplays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectivesTakes ownership and responsibility for current and past work productsIs committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the companyHas effective problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skillsFocuses on teamwork, collaboration and puts the success of the team above one's own interests

The salary range for this role is:

$136,807 - $194,040
