Amazon.com
Project Kuiper is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the satellite bus systems team. You will work closely with a world-class team of engineers and business leaders to architect, design, and test automation services and tools that we use to support and learn from our growing satellite constellation and ground testbed systems. We are looking for a Software Engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations. In this role, you will focus on architecture, deployment, and maintenance of infrastructure and automation services for model development, simulation, & test environments. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and use of large datasets.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
* Work with stakeholder, peer teams and customers to design automation services for model development, simulation, & test environments.
* Develop cloud native software systems in Python, Java, or similar language utilizing AWS and other Amazon technologies.
* Build and optimize data pipelines that track performance, generate insights, and support models (control systems or ML) for continuous system improvement.
* Integrate data pipelines from multiple hardware sensors and other software services for different use-cases such as streaming and batch processing models.
* Build and maintain robust and well-documented APIs that allow other engineers and partners to develop their own custom models, integrations, and test assertions.
* Create and improve monitoring and observability tools for tracking, debugging, and learning across space & ground deployments.
* Integrate, test, and validate new features on live systems, ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability standards.
* Lead technical roadmap definition, requirements & feature planning, and performance improvements. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to the team.
A day in the life
As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of automation services to support simulation model development, algorithm design, and test verification needs for the Kuiper satellite constellation. You will work with a dynamic group of engineers and collaborators across multiple technology areas to identify automation needs, design novel solutions that meet customer requirements, and write software to automate key behaviors for our simulation and test infrastructure. You will build high performance and scalable architecture to extract, process, and visualize data from constellation's space and ground assets effectively.
About the team
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
You will be working closely with hardware & software development, systems engineering, and test teams in the area of power, battery, solar and satellite bus.
