Responsibilities
Job Summary:
Decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment. Assembles, prepares and packages surgical instruments and equipment, and processes using various methods of high/low temp sterilization and disinfection. Maintains quality control and biological monitoring systems for sterilization processes. Answers the telephone and responds to requests for sterile instruments and supplies. Prepares and distributes case carts and sterile supplies. Utilizes computer system for case cart stock supply, stock
return, and electronic instrument management system. Acquires and maintains CRCST certification. Serves as an instrument and sterilization resource for the facility. Must be able to troubleshoot issues/concerns from customers. Must be departmental preceptor and maintain qualifications.
Job Responsibilities:
Decontamination, Infection Control and Sterilization
Assists with implementation of infection control policies.Decontaminates surgical instruments, power equipment and other medical devices.Appropriate use of manual disinfectants.Functions as a resource regarding decontamination practices.Coordinates sterilizing schedule to meet the instrumentation needs of all ORs and clinics.Maintains quality control records for all sterilizers and high level disinfection processes.Can troubleshoot minor issues with equipment and knows appropriate protocol for handling service calls.Understands and complies with all sterilizing policies and regulations.Daily Operations
Ability to assemble, package and label, clinics surgical services and all other hospital instrumentation for various methods of sterilization.Communicates implant re-order needs as well as with vendors for loaner and consignment trays.Restocks peel pack, tape, integrity locks, wrappers and indicators.Prepares and delivers case carts. Utilizes aseptic technique when handling and distributing sterile instruments andsupplies.

18 months of surgical instrument technician experience required.
Education:
HS Diploma/ GED
Licensure:
CRCST certification or CSPDT certification or 10 YOE in job role
Traning:
Preceptor certification required within six (6) months of hire
