Job Description:

The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms.  

Essential Functions:

Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.Perform requirement traceability.Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.Ability to identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint. Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.Understand requirement traceability. Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purposeKnowledge of the systems engineering trade study processExperience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirementsExperience conducting verification testingExcellent written, oral, and presentation communications skillsExperience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plansWillingness to travel up to 25%. (Domestic/International)Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customersEngineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraftHands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior Systems Engineering experience. OR Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior Systems Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Systems Engineering experience.Candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI.Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Active TS/SCI security clearance.CompTIA Security+ Certification.CI Poly.Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.Security+ Professional Certification.
