Job Description:
The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms.
Essential Functions:
+ Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
+ Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
+ Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
+ Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
+ Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
+ Perform requirement traceability.
+ Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
+ Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
+ Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
+ Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
+ Ability to identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes.
+ Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
+ Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
+ Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
+ Understand requirement traceability.
+ Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals .
+ Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose
+ Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process
+ Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
+ Experience conducting verification testing
+ Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
+ Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans
+ Willingness to travel up to 25%. (Domestic/International)
+ Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers
+ Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft
+ Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior Systems Engineering experience.
+ OR Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior Systems Engineering experience.
+ In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Systems Engineering experience.
+ Candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI.
+ Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
+ Active TS/SCI security clearance.
+ CompTIA Security+ Certification.
+ CI Poly.
+ Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
+ Security+ Professional Certification.
