Sr. Specialist Technical Writer
Job Title: Senior Specialist, Technical Writer Job ID: 18872 Job Location: Remote - Prefer Montana Job Schedule: 4/10 Clearance: Must be Able to Obtain a DoD Security Clearance Job Description: Analyze, revise, correct, or arrange the contents and style of technical or nontechnical work of high complexity of Fleet Ballistic Missile/Strategic Weapons systems (FBM/SWS) documents for publication. Ensure documents conform to corporate and government editorial standards, proper style, and format while maintaining the engineering intent. Coordinates all steps in the production process of the document or material within the various company functions. Interfaces with requester and acts as liaison between requester, engineering, Support Services groups and Customer. Ensures accuracy and completeness of writings. Essential Functions: + Implements established configuration management documentation, processes, and principles in a development environment to maintain adequate control and traceability of documentation changes and associated records. + Proactively engage with development teams to ensure timely updates and revisions to the documentation based on equipment changes and enhancements. + Identify and fill documentation gaps by conducting independent research, interviews, and hands-on exploration of the equipment + Responsible for reviews of documentation for style, design, layout, accuracy, and editorial aspects. + Create and maintain high-quality documentation standards that is measurable across the technical writing team ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s Degree in a technical competency and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. + Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. + In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. + Education and years of experience are not exclusive of other leveling factors, and other relevant education/experience in missile guidance, fire control, SSBN Operations, MIN/EWL and DRS Operations or missile systems may be considered in place of the above education and experience requirements + 8 years experience in missile guidance, fire control, SSBN Operations, MIN/EWL and DRS Operations or missile systems. + 8 years experience reading and interpreting Statements of Work, Drawings, Schematics and parts lists. + 8 years experience in the ability to read technical drawings and convert the information into easy-to-understand procedures. + 8 years experience in the ability to communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately and be comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy. + Must be able to obtain a DoD Security clearance. + Willingness to work overtime and/or outside of normal business hours as needed to meet critical deadlines and business requirements. Preferred Additional Skills: + SDS - Operational, Installation and Removal experience. + Strong working knowledge of FBM/Trident SWS SSBN Operations, DRS Operations, MIN/EWL, including familiarity with SOP’s, OP’s, TIDB’s, EWL and SWSMIN or AMIN assets, SSPINST and MIL-STD-37874 + Experience in authoring using FrameMaker, SGML/XML/S1000D electronic documentation a plus. + Strong Microsoft Office skills + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Soft skills (I.E. Proficient in MS Office, Strong communication…) ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $76,000k - $130,000k. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
