Sr. Staff Accountant
Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the preparation of accurate financial statements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.Responsibilities:General Ledger Management:Oversee daily accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and maintenance of the general ledger.Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).Monitor and analyze general ledger accounts, including assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.Month-End and Year-End Close:Manage the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.Reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare adjusting entries, and ensure proper allocation of expenses.Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.Financial Reporting & Analysis:Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.Analyze financial data and trends, providing insights and recommendations to management.Prepare variance analysis reports comparing actual results to budget and forecasts.Compliance & Audit Support:Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to financial reporting.Assist with internal and external audits, providing requested documentation and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements.Maintain accurate documentation and records in support of all financial transactions.Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight:Review accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.Work with vendors and clients to resolve discrepancies and maintain positive relationships.Ensure compliance with company policies regarding payment terms and credit management.Budgeting & Forecasting Support:Support the budgeting and forecasting process by preparing financial models, reviewing historical data, and providing detailed analysis.Assist in the creation of departmental budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and ensure accurate financial data entry.Special Projects:Participate in special projects related to financial planning, system upgrades, and process improvements.Provide financial insights and support for various business initiatives as needed.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.4+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with experience in a senior or supervisory role.Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.CPA or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
