Sr. Staff EMC Design Engineer

Role Summary This role is responsible for the development of electrical vehicle systems and hardware Electronic Control Units ECUs across various technology domains. It requires a fundamental EMC background. The role is highly cross functional and may include occasional travel. The opening will be located at the Palo Alto office location and reports directly to an Engineering Manager within the Hardware organization. This role is expected to work in the office 5 days per week. Responsibilities Review electrical and mechanical designs for compliance with EMC commercial specs and EMI Real-world Environments survivability and customer experience. Write and execute test plans for LV and HV Electrical and Instrumentation hardware developed by Rivian. Continue to develop EMI. and electrical design, test, and analysis skills on-the-job. Identify and document ECU level susceptibilities to electromagnetic environments, including ESD, transients, radiated and conducted emissions Collaborate with electrical and mechanical design engineers to develop ECUs within EMC specs. Define and validate ECU level electrical bonding/grounding/shielding specs. Make measurement inside the EMC chamber for multiple ECUs Qualifications BS or MS in Electrical Engineering Hands-on experience working with electrical hardware and test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal/spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers. Basic circuit component knowledge, including MOSFET, DC-DC regulator ICs, FPGAs, memories. Ability to read in detail circuit and wiring block diagrams & schematics 5-7 years of experience Masters or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, RF circuit or Antenna design, or applied electromagnetics. Experience designing power supplies or voltage/current regulators. Experience with transmission line design Experience with test planning for automobiles or other complex vehicles. Working knowledge of commercial and automotive certification for EMI/EMC, including testing requirements to these specs: IEC 61000, CISPR 25, CISPR 12, CISPR -16, ISO 11452-x, ISO 7637-x, FCC Part 15, UNECE Reg 10 Experience in circuit design and PCBA layout Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $213,000.00 - $266,300.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
