Sr. Staff Engineer – Identity and Access Management

Position Summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-

performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications.  You will

help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional

IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-

creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Position Description

Our Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the

organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain

the highest standards of protection and availability. Our team thrives and succeeds

in delivering high quality technology products and services in a hyper-growth

environment where priorities shift quickly. The ideal candidate has broad and deep

technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end

systems and all points in between.

Position Responsibilities

As a Sr. Staff Engineer, you will:

Focus on multiple areas and provide technical and thought leadership to the enterpriseDevelop and execute technical software development strategy for a variety of domainsAccountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutionsInfluence and educate leadership at all levelsConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsAnalyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plansDetermine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, and demonstrate adaptability and sponsoring continuous learningOversee efficient identity lifecycle management, directory services while optimizing overall processes.Stay at the forefront of emerging identity trends, technologies, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance GEICO’s data protection strategiesProvide technical guidance and mentorship to the team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, compliance, and application teams to ensure the seamless integration and alignment of solutions with organizational goalsBuild resilient and scalable architecture, driving innovation and cost efficiency

Qualifications

Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to productionExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeIn-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithmsExperience solving analytical problems with quantitative approachesAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)Experience with micro-services-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIsExperience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systemsFluency in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational FrameworkExperience in leveraging PowerShell scriptingExperience in existing Operational Portals such as Azure PortalIn depth knowledge of Datacenter structure, capabilities, and offerings, including the Azure platform, and its native services including the Azure platform and its native servicesExperience in security protocols and products: Understanding of Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuthExperience in Azure Network (Subscription, Security zoning, etc.)Fluency and specialization with at least one modern language such as Java, Go, or RustIn depth expertise in cryptographic protocols, digital certificates, and encryption standards such as X.509, Transport Layer Security (TLS), and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)Demonstrated ability to design and implement resilient, scalable, and efficient solutionsStrong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilitiesExcellent communication skills, able to communicate complete technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience

10+ years of professional experience in technology or identity engineering8+ years of experience with security, identity, architecture, and design6+ years of experience with open-source frameworks 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience


 

Annual Salary

$130,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
