Sr. Staff Injection Molding Engineer
Job Title: Sr. Staff Injection Molding EngineerJob Description This role will lead the startup of a new injection molding facility and will support the manufacturing operation as the responsible process engineer. The successful candidate will specify, procure, and commission molding equipment and oversee process setup. Additionally, you will review part design concepts and provide input to support design for manufacturing, while offering subject matter expertise as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team. Responsibilities + Lead the startup of a new injection molding facility including specifying, procuring, and commissioning molding equipment and process setup. + Review part design concepts and provide input to support design for manufacturing. + Provide subject matter expertise and process engineering input as a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team. + Work cross-functionally with production and NPD teams. + Engage in continuous improvement methodologies to optimize molding processes. Essential Skills + Experience in injection molding and process engineering. + Knowledge of Scientific Molding or Decoupled Molding principles. + Understanding of material properties and processing parameters. + 10+ years of experience in injection molding and tooling with hands-on experience in machine setup and process optimization. + Experience leading capital projects related to molding machines, tooling, and related facilities. + Proficiency in 2D and 3D software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Engineering (required). + Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering (preferred). + Knowledge of GD&T. + Experience within a tooling shop. + Proactive understanding of manufacturing safety and equipment safety. + Experience with Solidworks software. Work Environment The first year will be 100% office-based for process planning and analysis. Once the equipment arrives, the role will transition to being 100% on the floor to get machines up and running. Eventually, the role will focus more on continuous improvement and capital projects. You will report to a manager based in Madison, WI.
