Role Summary In this role, you will be a Platform Software Architect, responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of platform software across vehicle controls boards. The platform includes drivers, operating systems, middleware, and application frameworks necessary for all aspects of vehicle controls. You will help set the strategy and direction, as well as guide junior engineers in overall execution. Through close collaboration with the larger Platform Software, Application Software, and Hardware teams, you will build the foundation of vehicle software for Rivian | VW Group Technologies. Responsibilities Architect and implement the foundational platform software for vehicle controls boards, from initial bring-up to shipping to customers, including drivers, operating systems, and middleware Lead design and development for multiple areas, guiding teammates through collaborative review, alignment, and execution Collaborate with the hardware team on overall design, schematics, and hardware validation Work closely with other development and cross-functional team members such as Charging, Body Controls, Infotainment, and Vehicle Dynamics to ensure the platform is meeting application requirements Qualifications 10+ years of experience in embedded software/firmware development, preferably with vertically integrated consumer products B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Expert C programming skills Deep familiarity of Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) Embedded software development and optimization expertise Understanding of multi-threaded and multi-core programming Proficient with software development on microcontrollers Experience with software development for systems with live sensor inputs Good team player with great communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment Passionately motivated to take ideas from R&D phase to a product Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $186,000-$232,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
