Primary Purpose
Identifies opportunities for new services and manages the project through the approval process. Analyzes or reviews information from internal and external sources to develop business cases that drive informed decision making. Provides direction on potential data and analytic resources to support strategic and business planning.
Minimum Specifications
Education
Must have an MBA, MHA, or advanced degree in a public health or related field.
Experience
Must have five years of experience in health care planning, strategy, and/or marketing.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Skills or Special Abilities
Ability to make well-organized presentations to hospital management and senior management staff. Strong knowledge of the health care environment including market dynamics, regulations, and reimbursement methodologies, business planning and financial modeling. Strong analytical and data skills, with proficiency in data synthesis and analysis to respond to business questions and drive informed decision making. Proven communication skills, with ability to present concepts to executive staff. Intellectual curiosity regarding the future of health care and how changes in the environment can impact the delivery of health care services. Strong database management skills and including knowledge of statistical analysis/modeling techniques. Proven track record of developing and executing successful strategic plans.
Responsibilities
Facilitates the development and execution of the organization's long-term strategic plan, ensuring alignment with financial and corporate objectives. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, identifying opportunities and threats. Uses findings from annual stakeholder meetings to research long term needs, identify resource requirements and recommend solutions for consideration. Works with stakeholders to determine operational needs. Analyzes data, determines options available and makes recommendations to support the best option identified. Working with department leadership, creates business cases to support suggested direction. Identifies, evaluates, and prioritizes growth opportunities, developing and implementing strategies to achieve business goals. Conducts in-depth market studies, special reports, and impact statements to identify emerging trends, customer segments, and competitive landscapes to support leadership decision-making. Manages critical planning timelines to ensure Parkland initiatives are in alignment with planning cycle activities. Assists in the development of department goals and project budgets. Working with Decision Support, Information Technology, and other stakeholders, determines return on investment and establishes key performance indicators for initiatives, using internal data and analytic capabilities to drive results. Provides representation on various healthcare planning committees/coalitions, coordinates/facilitates services when applicable, promotes the mission and goals of the hospital and cultivates/maintains a positive working relationship to maximize services to internal and external customers. Primary responsibility for managing the strategic initiative request portfolio, ensuring alignment with the organizational strategic plan. Mentor and develop staff, building a high-performing strategic planning team.

Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
