Our Corporate Supplier Industrialization team enables the industrialization of innovative products in an extremely aggressive timeline. In this highly visible role, the Sr. Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Power Train Metals works together with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and our Suppliers to develop ways to deliver challenging designs while at the same time not sacrificing manufacturing requirements for quality.
You must be able to guide upfront design development as well as roll up your sleeves with suppliers to create new manufacturing methods and control strategies to achieve ambitious specifications and ensure flawless execution during launch.
You Will:
The Sr. Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Power Train Metals will have two roles: Have cradle-to-grave supplier industrialization responsibility for Castings/Stamping/Machining suppliers. Support Power Train Engineers and be responsible for solving any Metals-related quality issues. Be responsible for coordinating all supplier industrialization activities between the DRE and GSM to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and cost requirements, build schedules, and monitor progress. Develop, manage, and improve the APQP (advanced product quality planning) process with suppliers from the initial design stage through PPAP submission and the start of mass production. Work cross-functional to collaborate and guide Engineering development to select metals suppliers with the right qualifications to meet Lucid's expectations and timeline. Support design reviews and ensure manufacturing needs (DFM/A) are considered in the design phase of castings/stamping/machining and sub-components and that proper quality expectations are defined. Be visible and voice of your commodity supplier industrialization team by generating regular reports for senior management, highlighting SIE/Supplier performance, OKRs-Goals-KPIs, risks, and strategies for improvement. Work cross-functional with plant-level Manufacturing, Incoming Quality, Material Planning, and Plant SQEs teams to ensure supplier quality issues are contained and Lucid plants are protected. Work closely with the Supplier and Lucid Engineering team to investigate supplier quality issues to determine root cause(s), identify and implement corrective actions, and drive long-term preventative actions. Perform supplier assessments, audits, and site inspections; develop process improvement plans and drive implementation; monitor and maintain performance metrics. Support system assembly build, define incoming parts inspection procedure as needed, track build issues, and drive suppliers for containment actions and long-term actions. Contribute to continuous improvement activities and undertake special tools and systems development projects as required. Be responsible for Driving and Tracking all supplier-responsible ECRs and PCN activities. Travel to suppliers as required and work with suppliers directly on quality issues. Ability to solve problems independently and in team environments at a rapid pace with positive energy and attitude.You Bring:
5+ years of High-volume manufacturing and assembly plant experience supporting Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering roles. 3+ years of hands-on supplier industrialization/development engineering (SIE/SDE) experience with castings, machining, and/or stampings. Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings and in-depth knowledge of quality standards and specifications used in metal manufacturing. Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability, and comprehensive understanding of quality toolbox (IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, DFM/A, GD&T, etc.) Certification preferred - American Society for Quality, Six Sigma Black Belt, IPC 610, IPC 620, etc. Team player with strong interpersonal skills, hands-on and data-driven, creative mindset in problem-solving Positive attitude, willingness to learn, be part of the solution, and be able to adapt to the dynamic working environment. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Smartsheet, JMP, Minitab, JIRA, and Tableau is a plus. BS in Engineering, MS preferred or equivalent experience.
