Prime Air is seeking an experienced Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer - Electrical, who combines technical and analytical capabilities. This leader will have a strong background in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Design, Manufacturing and Assembly of complex products with a demonstrated ability to lead and get the right things done quickly and effectively. Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop supplier quality engagement strategies from product development through sustaining operations.
- Collaborate with Engineering to optimize product design through DFMEAs.
- Strategize and support supplier product qualification best practices
- Review/approve qualification documents such as DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, FAIs, etc.
- Scale existing supplier process and quality systems to reduce defects with increasing volumes.
- Conduct initial, surveillance and for-cause supplier audits.
- Engage in internal/external Corrective Actions, improvement, and design change opportunities.
- Work with suppliers to solve/prevent technical product and process problems across a broad set of manufacturing commodities
- Identify supplier-related failure trends and drive investigation, failure analysis, and remediation
- Participate in strategic sourcing discussions
- Guide on best practice supplier management activities
- Long range planning for Supplier Quality processes and technologies for operations at scale.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate safe, high quality, cost effective products at scale
- Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent
- Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in Supplier Quality related to DC gearmotors, encoders, sensors, wiring harnesses, cameras, PCBA, electronics etc.
- 7+ years' experience with high volume manufacturing & assembly engineering of complex products in an automotive, consumer or aerospace manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience performing internal and/or supplier audits.
- 5+ years’ experience with quality tools such as 8D, DOE, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC etc.
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office, ERP, and PLM software.
- Demonstrated experience with business and technical communication.
- Proficient in ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Proven track record driving products through the whole product development life cycle
- Expert in GD&T based on ASME Y14.5.
- ASQ - Certified Supplier Quality Professional, Certified Quality Engineer, or Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Experience with hands-on inspection or utilizing calibrated inspection tools.
- Experience leading Lean Manufacturing activities.
- Proficiency in MiniTab
- Experience with (FAA) 14 CFR 21.137 requirements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
