Sr. Tax Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our team, reporting directly to the Income Tax Manager. In this role, you’ll work independently to ensure the organization meets its federal, state, and local tax obligations while preparing complex tax returns and contributing to financial statement disclosures.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare complex federal, state, and local income tax returns, including related payments and worksheets.Ensure timely filing of sales, use, and property tax returns in coordination with external vendors.Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries.Review property tax bills and process payments to meet state deadlines.Resolve sales, use, and property tax notices and ensure proper communication of progress.Assist in sales, use, and property tax audits, including coordination and documentation gathering.Monitor and implement sales/use tax rate changes in the POS system.Prepare federal and state partnership income/franchise tax returns and K-1s.Prepare federal/state estimated tax payments and extensions for all entities.Contribute to quarterly and annual income tax provision and financial statement disclosures.Conduct tax research and assist with special projects such as year-end planning and amended returns.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required).CPA or CPA candidate (preferred).3-7 years of experience in tax, with basic knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.Strong Excel skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.Excellent problem-solving, research, and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.Experience with tax research software (BNA, CCH, or RIA) and OneSource Income Tax/Workday is a plus.Prior experience in public accounting or large industry (preferred).

Location: The individual selected for this role must reside in Arizona (offices are at Bell & Hayden Road).  We offer considerable latitude to work remote from home most of the time; however, position does require at least 1 partial day/week in the office.
