This role is a key member of Mars Global Service Finance (MGSF). Within the Intercompany Billing (ICB) team, this role will oversee the Global Shared Cost Service Center (SC2) function. This role manages the copiloting and transformation of Global Billing Hub processes within Mars, Inc. The primary responsibility of the function is to provide services related to global cross charges across Mars, Inc. The SC2 unit captures, processes, accounts and reports on the costs related to various global shared services within the center’s responsibility. Management of these transactions are administered through the knowledge and application of Mars Accounting policies and principles, US GAAP, applicable local government regulations and Mars transaction-processing system(s) to meet Mars Process and Control Standards (PACS) requirements.This role will manage the relationship with the upstream and downstream stakeholders including partnering to drive recommendations to improve processes efficiency and effectiveness through automation, digitalization and scale. This role will also be responsible to maintain service levels, metrics, and continuous improvement activities. This role is accountable to the Global Intercompany Manager for overall General Ledger period close analysis and co-pilot responsibilities.What are we looking for?Minimum education, knowledge, skills and experience this position requiresEducation & Professional Qualification Bachelor’s degree Accounting / Finance or Business requiredCPA required, MBA preferred6 - 8 years of relevant experience Knowledge/ExperienceIn-depth knowledge of Intercompany Accounting practices, processes, GAAP and internal controlsExperience with SAP and EssbaseEffective interpersonal skills, ability to thrive in a multicultural environmentStrong analytical and problem solving skills requiredDemonstrated ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines is essentialStrong verbal and written communication skillsWhat will be your key responsibilities?Co-Pilot Mars affiliates around the globe on all SC2 initial inquiries (i.e.: allocations, billings, YEE, and SC2 annual true-up process). Responsibility is shared with Service Owners or Co Pilots. Lead the analysis of SC2 financial information to answer questions from Service Owners or Co Pilots about actual costs received. Lead and execute the R&D annual true-up process, working closely with Corporate Tax team.Continuous Improvement efforts of SC2 processes to gain further scale and efficiency through process reengineering, automation and scope expansion. Identify digital / automation opportunities in SC2 processes and participate in their development and deployment. Provide functional expertise within the intercompany system(s) supported by the ICB/SC2 team (i.e.: SAP, ICR tool, Essbase, etc.). Deploy process improvement recommendations as it relates to SC2 processes and R&D true-up.Control Processes and maintain an adequate internal control environment and make recommendations regarding improvements to control activities (ICE control framework). Maintain SC2 IT systems. Support SC2 financial audits.Review close activities performed by other team members to ensure accuracy of SC2 billing and period close activity.Forecasting and Analysis o Maintain Allocation keys values for each year.Approval for allocation keys applicable to each service to be approved by SC2 governance team.Produce standard period reports by service for the Service Owners. Perform analytical review of results for reasonableness on a period basis. Verify and question anomalies in period cross charge. Lead quarterly reporting package including variance explanations from Plan and YEE supplied by the Service Owners or Co-Pilots. Lead early identification of variances aiming to bring transparency and prevent significant true ups. o Produce forecasts (YEE billing) at required. Lead and execute SC2 true up process, and proactively manage communication to all Mars units. Produce periodic plan billing reports. Lead periodic actuals review meetings with Co-Pilots and Service Owners. o Perform ad hoc financial analysis as required.
