**Job Summary:**
Westfield Insurance is seeking a **seasoned Data Analyst** to join our team in a contract-to-hire capacity. This role is a backfill for a retiring Data Analyst and requires **deep technical expertise in SQL, relational databases, and data modeling** . The ideal candidate is highly analytical and comfortable working “in the data weeds” while performing complex data analysis and data modeling tasks. **Insurance industry experience is highly preferred.** This role is **not focused on visualization/report development** but instead on **technical data analysis, data profiling, and relational database navigation** .
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Perform **data analysis, data profiling, and data sourcing** to support business needs.
+ **Extract, transform, and analyze** complex datasets using SQL and relational databases.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to **gather and document data requirements** (functional & non-functional).
+ Develop and **validate source-to-target mappings** for data movement and transformation.
+ Create, update, and maintain **conceptual, logical, and physical data models** .
+ Analyze **impacts of new/existing applications on legacy systems and enterprise data environments** .
+ Identify **data quality issues** and work with technical and business stakeholders to resolve them.
+ Mentor and **serve as a subject matter expert** for less-experienced data analysts.
+ Coordinate and direct data-related work assignments as needed.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ **7+ years of experience** as a Data Analyst.
+ Strong **SQL skills** and expertise in **navigating relational databases** .
+ Experience with **low-to-medium complexity data modeling** .
+ Background in **insurance data** or **financial services data** is a plus.
+ Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and provide **actionable insights** .
+ Bachelor's degree in **Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics** , or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Experience with **data governance, data profiling, and metadata management** .
+ Strong communication skills and ability to work with **both business and technical teams** .
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with **Tableau or Power BI** (for data validation, not report development).
+ Prior work in **property & casualty insurance, life insurance, or reinsurance** data environments.
**Work Environment & Expectations:**
+ Ability to work **40+ hours per week** in a collaborative team environment.
+ Travel may be required as needed.
