Sr. Technical Program Manager, AWS Vetting, AWS Vetting
Description The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Software teams build, enhance, and expand the services at the foundation of AWS cloud. Vetting teams build and maintain software services, tools, and platforms for deploying, orchestrating, and monitoring tests for AWS servers. Our software ensures that all AWS systems meet AWS' quality bar and are operating as expected in our data centers. We are responsible for vetting AWS cloud at a scale larger and more complex than anywhere else on the planet. Our services are core to how cloud capacity is provisioned, managed and used by AWS. AWS Vetting is innovating new systems and extending its services to new frontiers. Our teams are architecting, building and operating scalable services that are at the core of AWS infrastructure. Who do we do: AWS Vetting software teams develop the systems, services, and tools that ensure the health of AWS cloud by measuring the health of all server systems at AWS before they are used by our customers. What you will do: You will define the engagement model for software development and delivery, and manage cross-team dependencies and relationships. You will be the key leader responsible for delivering the distributed software systems and results that will ensure that AWS customers get healthy servers and services. You will drive, track, and report the development effort to leadership and partners. You manage delivering critical cross-organizational (S3, EC2, DynamoDB, Data Center Operations, Data Center Automation, Hardware Engineering, etc.) projects end-to-end. Responsibilities include collecting business and systems requirements from across AWS, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing production launches. You will be expected to drive consistency in solutions across multiple AWS teams while incrementally streamlining the process in order to speed up delivery. We are looking for a self-starter individual, who can help us raise the bar in technical program management practices and operational excellence, while serving the entire AWS. Why it’s high-impact: Our systems ensure that internal and external AWS customers can get the healthy server capacity they need within an SLA. Scope of all our solutions is global, and Vetting processes are at the nexus of all server delivery in AWS. What’s the challenge: Our space is fast-moving, and has a large number of ambiguous and difficult challenges. Our projects require deep technical and software expertise and the ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company. You will be responsible for identifying solutions, trying ideas, will be given space to fail and to iterate to produce products that your customers love. Who would succeed in this role? The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background that's heavily focused on influencing product design decisions and excels at identifying technical and process patterns that to make things simpler and more consistent for both AWS internal customers and for Vetting teams. You will have demonstrated experience leading multiple launches in parallel, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You understand what it takes to operate at scale and help the organization scale. You will help define and own the execution of high-visibility software, you will build and implement a strategy to meet critical Amazon business and security needs, and you will provide regular updates to senior Amazon leaders. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. Key job responsibilities - Own and mange cross-organizational programs. - Define business opportunity, long term vision and roadmap for our product offerings. - Scale innovative solutions to AWS Vetting's size by working closely with customers, and engineers. - Own and drive strategic program and product communications (e.g., decision narratives, investment proposals, status reports) with senior leaders and executives. - Design mechanisms to ensure long-term product and business success. - Comfortable communicating with technical stakeholders. - Partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions. We build and maintain services that enables customers to validate a system through its lifecycle at AWS. We are responsible to enable customers to hold the quality bar that meets the AWS Customers expectation. We provide services to our customers that enables them to develop, build, release, and run their workflows/test content across all the AWS fleet. Our service runs series of hardware checks and security checks to ensure the quality of host that meets our customers expectations, otherwise, sends it for repair. Our customers are EC2, S3, EBS, KMS, HWEngS, and DCO. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market.
