The Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) organization is looking for a talented Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the team. Our team's mission is to create solutions that generate faster and deeper Customer Experience (CX) insights, allowing Amazon business teams to deeply understand, influence, and improve customer experiences globally.
We are working on multiple highly visible product within Amazon and this role provides opportunity to influence how teams tackle improving customer experiences. In this role, you will be a core part of the engineering team driving multiple programs that span internal and external teams requiring a comprehensive understanding of project progression and interdependencies. This role demands a holistic view of how projects are progressing, along with a deep understanding of the relevant tech stack and business needs. Effective stakeholder communication through well-crafted program documents, early risk identification, and consensus-building on mitigation strategies are crucial aspects of this position.
As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, and balance business needs against technical constraints. We expect the successful candidate to break down large, complex projects into smaller modules, develop functional specifications, and deliver them in a timely manner.
A successful TPM for this work will be able to dive deep into the technical design of this product, understand other Amazon and AWS products and services, identify trade-offs (both back end and front end), surface hidden edge cases, drive decision making on build vs integrate, and influence and drive long-term product roadmap and success.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with senior engineers to map the origination, augmentation and destinations of customer data across systems.
- Lead high level and detailed technical design with senior engineers to create compliant and efficient architecture for enforcing user consent.
- Oversee scoping and funding of technical resources required to deliver the technical design across teams.
- Drive implementation of technical tasks, monitoring key dependencies and reporting risks/issues/blockers.
- Own a broad scope and plenty of opportunity to influence technical direction across Amazon business and engineering teams.
- Engage with software developers and technical product managers to reach decisions on hotly debated technical topics.
- Hold partner engineering teams accountable for setting and delivering ambitious goals.
- Identify inter-system dependencies and align on then monitor paths to address them.
- Contribute in quarterly business review series and S-team and VP goal updates

Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, where you facilitate challenging discussions, presenting well-prepared data to help well informed decisions. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential as you navigate these interactions. Your technical knowledge is crucial in evaluating customer impact, and balancing product cost, quality, and schedule to ensure optimal outcomes. You prioritize your activities to support product development, solve problems and blockers, and focus on the actions that are most impactful for program success.

We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings - for almost every business at Amazon - for every customer (e.g., consumers, developers, sellers/brands, employees, investors, streamers, gamers).

We use technical and non-technical approaches and stay aware of industry and business trends. We are a global team made up of diverse set of profiles, skills, and backgrounds - including: Product Managers, Software Developers, Computer Vision experts, Solutions Architects, Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, Business Analysts, Risk Managers, and more.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
