With limited supervision, the Senior Telecommunications Engineer provides telecommunications cabling service and assistance to users in the Getty community. Assists all telecommunications and cabling.

Major Job Responsibilities Maintains and implements telecommunications access, security, and servicesMonitors telecommunications for stability and proper configurationPerforms telecommunications reconfigurations, equipment installations, and upgradesProvides work guidance, escalation, and training to lower-level specialists and contractorsIdentifies chronic telecommunications problems and develop solutions/repairsRegularly interacts with functional peer group, area supervisors or managers, and internal customersApplies job skills and departmental policies and procedures to complete a wide range of complex tasks in creative and effective waysMay serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issuesAdapts behavior and work methods, as needed, in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstaclesDemonstrates a willingness to learn and use new procedures and technologyEffectively handles multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid changeContributes to projects based on areas of expertiseMay orient, train, coach, assign, and check the work of associate service personnel Qualifications Associate college degree or equivalent in computer science preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience5-8 years of related experience with voice and data communications and/or cablingExperience installing and configuring telecommunications equipment and applying increasing complex diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in advanced installation, termination and troubleshooting of copper, coax, and fiber cabling systems; air-blown fiber experience a plus. Includes the physical installation of spools of fiber and copper cabling, use of tools and methods such as splicing and terminating and preferably fusion splicing.Advanced coursework and training classes from BICSI with Installer Certification preferred.Strong communication skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical usersWork is guided by supervisor yet, may act with little to no supervision to identify methods and procedures based upon expertiseDemonstrates the ability to express thoughts clearly, both orally and in writingListens and replies appropriately to othersAsks questions and offers input for positive resultsEstablishes Professional network within job to accomplish day-to-day tasks Benefits and Perks
