Sr. Trade Compliance Analyst

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Senior Trade Compliance Analyst responsible for supporting the oversight of key export operational activities. The Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert on export regulations, ensuring both efficient and compliant controls and process are in place. This role has a specific focus on supporting the North America region.

This is a full-time remote position.

What we’re looking for

Education: Bachelor's Degree is required; Degree concentration in Business, International Logistics, or science-related field is preferred

Experience: 5+ years of experience in a dynamic Trade Compliance or Brokerage environment or equivalent is required

Knowledgeable of SAP

Collaboration Tool: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

Preferred Qualifications: 

Licensed Customs Broker highly preferred

GTS experience highly preferred

How you will thrive and create an impact

Work directly with the global export group and provide compliance support related to routine day–to-day export activities, including but not limited to documentation requirements, export filling data

Performs export business partner verification and Denied Party Screening

Assigning US Harmonized Tariff Schedule and ECCN to internationally bound products

Handling of BIS Commodity Classification requests and export licenses 

Developing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and procedures to ensure company-wide compliance with Foreign Trade Regulations

Provide guidance concerning the regulatory requirements and obligations of exporting under Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Other Government Agencies

Assist with the identification, escalation, and reporting of compliance issues

Conduct internal audits of export documents, processes, and procedures 

Monitor export regulations and business activities to determine export compliance procedure and licensing impact

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

Demonstrated strong analytical skills, history of identify and reducing complex and systemic risks within systems or large organizations.

Strong knowledge of HTS, rules of origin, recordkeeping, export regulations, and broad understanding of risk assessment and mitigation processes.

Working knowledge of the following regulatory areas: US HTS/Schedule B and ECCN Classifications, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Foreign Trade Regulations, Anti-boycott regulations and other government agencies like DEA, EPA, OFAC, etc.

Demonstrated knowledge of US and Canadian product regulations, including but not limited to FDA, Health Canada, EPA/CEPA, DEA, & TTB.

Demonstrated ability to deliver quality results and a high level of compliance while managing multiple projects, priorities, and daily workflow.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$75,000.00 - $124,000.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
