Kimley-Horn has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Sr. Transit/Transportation Planner to join our team in San Jose, CA, overseeing various transportation and transit infrastructure projects and programs with an expertise in leading community and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have a strategic mindset and a passion for leading diverse community outreach/public involvement efforts. Their focus will include developing and implementing equitable community and stakeholder engagement activities, as well as managing various aspects of transportation/transit projects. The successful candidate will also play a role in business development by tracking opportunities to enhance public involvement throughout the industry.
The selected candidate will:
Develop and foster meaningful relationships with clients, stakeholders and the communities we serve.Develop and implement strategic communications and engagement plans that address the needs and include the voices of diverse communities to help deliver better mobility solutions.Manage large, complex, and multi-disciplinary transportation infrastructure projects, or significant portions of the projects.Lead project outreach activities including guiding the direction of public engagement, giving presentations, meeting with community members, businesses, and organizations to explain the project scope, impacts, benefits, mitigations, etc.Collaborate with agencies and municipal clients on complex planning and project delivery challenges.Lead construction coordination efforts with contractors including managing communications with stakeholder and community groups. Conduct public presentations including community meetings, board meetings, and city council meetings.Perform project management duties such as managing large tasks and projects, performing research, report writing, leading public involvement meetings and maintaining client relations in support of transportation infrastructure projects.Develop schedules, review invoices, manage progress reports, prepare scopes, and track budgets.Mentor and develop staff, provides leadership in an environment that encourages teamwork, initiative, and growth. Qualifications A strong passion to provide clients with exceptional serviceA minimum of 6 years of outreach and communications, including working on large infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of planning principles related to transit and transportationDemonstrated project management experienceExperience in transportation and transit planning project work including, but not limited to transit planning, bus rapid transit, light rail, complete streets, pedestrian and bicycle planningStrong organizational skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience with public outreach, community engagement, providing presentations to public officials and communication with a variety of individuals Outgoing, self-motivated team playerAbility to work with and balance priorities among multiple projects and project managersSalary Range:
$105,000 to $145,000
