Responsibilities
We have an opportunity for a Sr. Underwriting Analyst to join our Berkley Accident and Health team! You will be responsible for setting up new and renewal prospects for our stop loss/captive Underwriters, as well as performing all other necessary functions required to pre-underwrite the prospect and/or renewal. As a Senior Analyst, you will support training and mentoring of new, entry-level underwriting assistants and analysts.

Key functions include but are not limited to:
Review RFP’s and underwriting files to ensure the data is complete and accurate and initiate communication with external parties, including TPAs and brokers, to request any missing documentationMaintain familiarity with reporting capabilities of TPAs and other administrators in order to alert underwriters of any gaps in data or lags in reportingInput employer stop loss characteristics such as benefits, census, large claim information and aggregate claim assessment into David Young systemInterpret aggregate claim data for input into our rating system, utilizing proper underwriting protocol During claim input, initiate screening of potential claimants of concern to present to the Underwriter, using knowledge of trigger diagnosis codes and clinical referral guidelinesMaintain quote contingencies and qualifications, TPA’s and PPO networks, as well as ensuring that all plan amendments are correct and up to datePrepare and distribute renewal letter notificationsParticipate in Captive renewal calls and biweekly Underwriting meetingsMaintain renewal spreadsheet for assigned Underwriters Qualifications College Degree or equivalent experience2-4+ years in an underwriting analyst or other underwriting roleProven track record of developing and managing a profitable block of businessStrong mathematical backgroundAbility to handle large volume of work efficiently and correctly with limited errorsExcellent communication skills with internal and external customersAbility to be productive independently, yet work in a team environmentStrong organizational, planning, and time management skillsCreativity and problem solving skills a plus.
