The Role
As a Senior UX Motion Designer on Tinder’s Brand Experience (BX) team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual and interactive narrative of our platform. Your expertise in motion design will enhance user journeys, creating seamless flows and delightful moments that resonate with our brand identity. You will be at the heart of our center of excellence, leveraging motion to tell compelling stories and establish foundational interaction principles that elevate the Tinder experience across all touch points.
Where you’ll work:
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration two times per week. This position is located in West Hollywood and/or San Francisco, California. Please include your preferred location in your application.In this role you will be responsible for: Motion Design Strategy: Develop a comprehensive motion design strategy aligned with Tinder's UX goals and brand vision, defining motion's role in enhancing user experience and maintaining consistency across platforms.Interaction Design: Design and prototype intuitive micro-interactions, transitions, and animations that guide user navigation, enhance engagement, and deliver delightful standalone experiences.Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with designers, product managers, and developers to integrate motion seamlessly into the product lifecycle, ensuring feasibility, accessibility, and optimal implementation.Prototyping & Testing: Create high-fidelity prototypes to demonstrate motion concepts, conduct usability testing, and iterate designs based on user feedback and data-driven insights.Design System Integration: Establish motion design guidelines within Tinder’s design system, ensuring consistent and scalable usage of motion elements across all products.Accessibility Consideration: Design inclusive motion elements that enhance usability for all users, adhering to accessibility standards and minimizing potential barriers.Mentorship & Thought Leadership: Mentor junior designers, promote a culture of excellence, and stay at the forefront of motion design trends and tools to bring fresh perspectives and innovation.Continuous Improvement: Regularly refine motion designs through user and stakeholder feedback, leveraging data to align with evolving user needs and industry standards.Storytelling Through Motion: Utilize motion to convey user journey narratives and emotional connections, enhancing the brand's storytelling and user engagement.Brand Motion Integration: Expand Tinder’s motion design language, building on iconic gestures like the “swipe right” while innovating new motion elements that strengthen brand identity and market differentiation.You’ll need:5+ years of experience in motion design, interaction design, or a related field, with a focus on digital products. A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to create purposeful and engaging motion design for digital experiences. Proficiency in motion design tools such as After Effects, Principle, ProtoPie, Lottie, or similar. Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with product designers, engineers, and other cross-functional teams. A solid understanding of UX principles and how motion design can enhance usability and improve the overall user experience. Experience designing and implementing motion for mobile platforms, with an eye for optimizing animations for performance. The ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards for quality and attention to detail. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and their impact on the user experience. Preferred qualifications: Experience working within a design system, contributing motion guidelines that ensure consistency across products. Familiarity with prototyping tools and workflows that integrate motion into interactive prototypes. Knowledge of inclusive design and accessibility principles, ensuring motion design is accessible to all users. An understanding of mobile platform limitations and best practices for optimizing motion performance on iOS and Android. Experience with data-driven design, using insights from user feedback and analytics to inform motion decisions. $115,000 - $135,000 a yearFactors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
