With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. KLA is looking for a Design Engineer in our Central Engineering Group in Ann Arbor. The engineer will work in a team of mechanical design engineers responsible for vacuum components across different divisions within the corporation. The engineer's role will entail modeling, designing, detailing, and testing of components and platforms for the next generation of KLA tools!
In this role successful candidates will:Lead project teams responsible for the design and manufacturing of vacuum platforms in support of current and next generation tooling
Outgas test new materials intended for use in ultra-high (UH) or ultra-clean (UC) vacuum systems for contamination characterization
Perform vacuum calculations for system designs to ensure compliance with system requirements
Work within KLA DfX (Design for Excellence) framework
Peer review colleague's project documentation and drawings for quality
Perform quality checks on incoming components from manufacturers to ensure parts were manufactured to specification
Required QualificationsProficient in 3D solid modeling using CAD, preferably ProE/Creo
Ability to use GD&T to convey design intent in manufacturing drawings
Experience performing large system tolerance budgets and tolerance error analysis
Experience performing thermal, fluid, and vibration analysis (analytical or FEA)
Experience working in a laboratory and/or class 100 cleanroom environment
Be able to work in a multi-discipline and multi-cultural global organization
Be flexible and adaptive to adjust project focus based on priority changes
Excellent writing skills and verbal communication
Ability to travel up to 25%
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 3 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
