Sr. Workforce Effectiveness Data Analyst
Description and Requirements The Senior Strategic Data Analyst is responsible for the promotion and enablement of a data-driven culture within Healthfirst Operations. The Senior Strategic Data Analyst understands the health insurance industry and their own department such that he/she can identify opportunities for the use of technology and analytics to improve efficiency within the department and across the organization. Additionally, the Senior Data Analyst plays an integral role in the pursuit of department initiatives by leveraging analytics to provide insights that support key decisions and successful outcomes. Leverage leading analytical tools to generate insights that facilitate key decisions by department LeadershipDevelop repeatable analytics aimed at department and Executive Leadership that provide insights into the health and performance of the department.Leverage available data to develop preventative and detective controls to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of business processesContribute to the design and architecture of data models and dashboards used to retain and present key information to the business; Identify downstream impacts of changes and enhancements to current analyses, models, and algorithmsAssist with development and execution of highly complex algorithms and statistical predictive models from large sets of dataDetermine analytical approaches and modeling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomesInference data to make recommendations and decisionsDevelop repeatable ETL processes from source systems to analytics sandbox, ensuring integrity, completeness, and accuracy of data is maintainedPerform statistical analysis to quantify the limitations of modelsDevelop and improve upon metrics that evaluate department performanceThink critically about the business and how the work is performed. Identify opportunities to improve the status quo, inject data into the decision-making process, and support progress with factsServe as a trusted contact for internal department members or other departments. Work with the business to define methodologies that directly address their concerns; present results or deliverables to the business and provide support with confidence.Analyze and reconcile premium revenue and remittance status, accounting for rate changes across all product lines. Support and report account receivables sub-ledger aging and collections.Review, analyze and create detailed documentation reports to support department processesAnticipate and solve strategic and high risk business problems with broad impact on the business area by  investigating problems, detecting patterns and recommending solutionsCommunicate new knowledge and insights gained from analysis of big dataTransfer knowledge and concepts to the team that is implementing the actual systemPartner with IT and business teams to solve problems, develop new algorithms and models, and identify trends and opportunities. Inform, influence, support, and execute business and product decisions.Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experienceProficiency of scripting and programming skills Experience using MS Office suite, including Microsoft Access, Excel, and WordExpertise in utilizing data analysis and query tools such as SQLExperience with Alteryx, Tableau, Amazon Redshift, or other similar tools/platformsExperience with applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.Ability to successfully run queries from a data warehouseExpertise innovating and implementing audit techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institutionDegree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Informatics, or similar concentrationExperience with analytical programming techniques such as Python and RExperience with AWS and analytical solutions available on the platform (Redshift, Glue, Sage Maker, etc.)Experience with data visualization tools such as TableauFamiliarity with programming in JavaScript, D3.jsFamiliarity with big data technologies, such as Hadoop, MapReduce, and AWS KinesisExperience developing innovative solutions to complex problemsAdvanced problem solving skills and the ability to make critical, independent decisions within area of responsibilityExcellent communication skillsExcellent time management and the ability to prioritize work and complete assignments within their allotted deadlineExperience working with and communicating technical information to multiple levels of technical and non-technical staff in written and verbal formExperience prioritizing a heavy workload in a fast paced environmentKnowledge of modern machine learning algorithms (clustering, classification and regression), statistical methods and optimizationKnowledge of health care industry, products, systems, business strategies and products

Hiring Range*:

Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $81,100 - $117,470

All Other Locations (within approved locations): $71,600 - $106,505

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
