Sr. Workplace Leader
Job Title: Sr. Workplace Leader Job Description The Lead Workplace Leader drives growth through cultivating client relationships, establishing new market opportunities, and providing leadership across the platform. This role advances the company's market reputation and brand by actively engaging in industry associations and events, expanding existing client relationships, and developing new lines of work. This role would be responsible for strategic planning, operational decisions, and business performance – including revenue, profitability, design, and technical aspects within the Chicago office. Responsibilities + Organize and prioritize tasks to complete within the identified time frame + Manage expectations of project leads and teammates, cast a vision for the studio's success + Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing + Lead by example + Foster a positive studio environment and maintain harmony + Resolve conflicts and have difficult conversations with teammates, peers, upper management, and clients when necessary + Provide opportunities to utilize individual strengths for professional development and team performance + Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide feedback to the Workplace Leadership Team; recommend salary increases + Advise Practice Leadership on project lead performance and team dynamics quarterly + Set goals with project leads and create opportunities to achieve these goals + Deliver feedback to inspire continuous learning + Develop project leads in core responsibilities for their role + Mentor teammates in executing their responsibilities + Provide studio performance feedback to Practice Leaders + Mentor project leads on communication, presentation skills, time management, and prioritizing team workloads + Develop a network to support the firm's recruiting efforts + Embrace steps to create, develop, and promote a diverse workforce and an inclusive environment + Maintain and build a deep industry network, including key players and influencers in the Workplace sector + Grow revenue organically and through new clients or markets + Build organizations towards meeting future Workplace opportunities + Integrate Workplace market, competition, trends, and organizational issues into a coherent vision for change, development, and growth + Lead business operations, staff development, business development, and executive lead staff teams + Act across every Service Line and Practice Area and support function in the region + Communicate and execute strategies and visions to the market + Delegate authority and maintain accountability in a large organization + Negotiate successfully and mitigate client grievances + Influence and work across many areas and levels to foster a pursuit of excellence climate + Create a strategic plan for Workplace growth in Chicago + Execute strategies to retain and expand client relationships, drive increased revenue and profits, and select new strategic business ventures + Gather market and competitor intelligence and translate into effective positioning + Collaborate with Practice Leaders to develop a thoughtful go-to-market strategy + Serve as an ambassador to the market, ensuring the growing strength of the brand across current and future business opportunities + Foster an environment supporting the company's Vision, Mission, Values, Culture, and Strategic Priorities Essential Skills + Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering + Must be accredited in the united states + 10+ years of post-graduate experience within the architecture/design industry and 5+ years managing or leading a team + this does not include internship experience + Possess code knowledge and ensure team has incorporated permitting requirements into deliverables + Basic knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness + Basic knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and EnergyStar guidelines + Proficiency in Deltek Vision + Proficiency in understanding financial management concepts + Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in architecture, Revit, CAD, plans, sections, details, elevations, interiors, rendering, SketchUp, business development, and workplace + Self-confident personal style; able to present ideas to important constituencies, earning the confidence and trust of others + Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to changing business conditions + Intelligent, decisive, quick, forward-thinking, strategic, and tactical executive + Proven strong “seller-doer” + Individual mentoring skills across multiple business disciplines + Intimate understanding of business financial reporting and keen ability to translate these into successful business strategies and operational business processes + Established ability to appropriately delegate authority and maintain accountability + Expert negotiator capable of successfully positioning talent and quality deliverables Work Environment The firm is a national Architecture, Interior Design, Planning, Branding, and Workplace Services firm ranked in the top 10 Interior Design firms in the country. Typical projects include banks, law firms, and corporate headquarters. Hours are flexible, with a start time ranging from 8 AM to 9 AM and ending between 5 PM and 6 PM. Work environment includes an open floor plan with lots of natural light and excellent views overlooking Chase Plaza. The role requires in-office presence three days a week, with two days remote work allowed.
