Job Description
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will be responsible for ensuring the overall health and safety of employees on GLDD Construction Projects. The SSHO will oversee workers on dredging projects and ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards.
ResponsibilitiesOversee the health and safety of employees on construction sites.Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards and OSHA regulations.Monitor and manage safety procedures and policies on dredging projects.Write and submit safety reports as required.Provide and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats and safety vests.Essential SkillsIn-depth knowledge of EM 385-1-1 Army Corps of Engineers Standards and OSHA regulations.Minimum of 5 years of Health & Safety Construction Experience, preferably in dredging.Certification in OSHA 500, OSHA 501, or OSHA 30.Ability to write detailed safety reports.Continued education in health and safety (e.g., certificates from the past five years).8-hour refresher training.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in marine, levy, and general construction.Proficiency in implementing safety procedures on construction sites.Work Environment
The position involves working on construction sites in Rio Grande and Corpus Christi. The SSHO will support large LNG clients. The contract duration is up to 5 weeks of work followed by 1 week off, with the first phase lasting one year. The overall project duration is 5 years. The SSHO must be willing to be on their feet for extended periods and work 12-hour days for 2-week stretches. The dress code includes construction clothes, PPE, hard hat, and safety glasses. Actalent will provide a compact rental car.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $45.00
