STAFF ACCOUNTANT, Financial Affairs, Comptroller's Office, Receivables

Reporting to the Director of Accounts & Analytics, the Staff Accountant is a key member of the Student Accounting Services team and maintains a lead role in the activity analysis and reconciliation in Boston University's cash, liability, student receivable, and clearing accounts, totaling more than $2B.
Major duties of this position include:
+ Responsible for general ledger clearing accounts and student receivable reconciliations and audit requests using Excel, third party reporting tools, and the SAP Business Warehouse.
+ Identifies business process improvements and/or system enhancements that can reduce uncleared/unmatched items and improve data quality and reporting.
+ Creates metrics to be used to analyze processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
+ Documents, communicates, and trains staff involved in the reconciliation process.
Required Skills
+ Bachelors degree in a related field.
+ 2+ years of work experience, preferably in a university or customer service environment, with a working knowledge of practices, policies and federal regulations concerning Student Accounts.
+ Demonstrated exceptional organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
+ Must be highly detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize routine tasks and ad-hoc requests.
+ A self-starting, diplomatic, proactive individual capable of managing people and processes.
+ Intermediate skills utilizing Excel, including complex formulas to acquire, organize, and analyze data.
+ Ability to work (both independently and in conjunction with others) effectively and cooperatively in a small, collegial team environment.
Preferred Skills
+ Working knowledge of practices, policies, and procedures concerning Student Accounts and Cashier Services.
+ Experience with analyzing detailed financial records, legacy accounting systems, and SAP.
