Belize Island Holdings Limited (BIHL), the parent company for Harvest Caye Belize, is looking for candidates with strong accounting knowledge, a strong work ethic, and a and a detail-oriented attitude to join its team as a staff accountant.
In this post, the applicant will provide accounting and analytical support to the accounting/finance department by preparing general journal entries, schedules, and provided support of monthly/quarterly reviews and audits.
General Responsibilities:
Ledger Account Analysis Reconciliations (Bank, GL, and Intercompany Ledger Accounts) Month-End Closing Process- perform transactions which include amortization entries, reclasses, and booking of transactions into the ledgers. Assist in assigned general ledger balance sheet reconciliations and schedules. Prepare monthly tax filings, therefore knowledge of local tax law/requirements is a must. Assist with internal and external audits. Apply accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information for preparation of financial reports as requested. Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate recording of financial information.
Education Background
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.Experience:
Minimum of one year experience in accounting.Knowledge & Skills:
Must have strong analytical skills, good verbal, and written communication skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, and MS Outlook. High level of proficiency in Excel - knowledge of complex formulas and PowerPivot will be a plus.
Experience with PeopleSoft software or large company ERP systems a plus. Organizational skills are necessary due to the nature of compiling and retaining detailed information. Ability to multitask and to work with large volumes of data. Ability to work extra hours during month end close and as needed.
