The Staff Accountant position will be responsible for reviewing the general ledger accounts and performing account analysis, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and assisting with policies, procedures, and internal controls improvement/implementation. Specifically, this will include filing state sales and use tax, process and audit travel and entertainment transactions, ensure accurate accounting for the company’s vans and van inventory, and the preparation of account reconciliations. This position reports to the Finance Manager. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: File multi state, county, district, and local sales and/or use tax returns and ensure tax payments are timely. Assist with implementation of tax systems and policies for sales and use tax compliance. Monitor customer’s Sales Tax Exemption Certificates Maintain state business registrations Process and audit employees’ travel & entertainment expenses. Responsible for the accurate accounting of all corporate credit cards used for business travel. Ensure the costs of the company’s fleet of vans are properly allocated to the correct departments Manage inventory and reconcile to the general ledger. Create journal entries; maintain specialized accounting entries, schedules, and analyses Capitalize fixed assets and detail schedules Prepare account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations Assist with month end closing entries Additional duties and projects as assigned by Finance Manager Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education / Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting 2+ years of accounting experience Advanced in MS Excel Proficient in MS Word, MS Outlook Experience in Great Plains a plus Desired skills: Time management, analytical, detail oriented, and communication We are committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace that values and supports the contributions of each individual.
