Staff Accountant

Job Summary:  

The Staff Accountant, under direct supervision of the Controller, plays an integral role in supporting the business by maintaining and providing financial information. The Staff Accountant applies knowledge of fundamental accounting principles to analyze data, prepare reports, and ensure financial compliance while completing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring tasks.  


Essential Functions:  

• Assistance with month-end and year-end closings  

• Prepare and process general ledger entries  

• Periodic report preparation and distribution  

• Assess and research a variety of tax issues and actively participate in implementation of solutions  

• Respond to vendor requests for tax documentation and maintain customer exemption certificates  

• Assist current initiative to improve sales/use tax compliance  

• Maintenance of company fixed asset ledger  

• Maintenance of company debt schedules  

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations  

• Responding to information requests from customers as well as other departments  

• Meeting processing and reporting deadlines  

• Assist in adoption of new accounting policies to maintain compliance with new standards  

• Coding of transactions to appropriately categorize records in general ledger  

• Assist Controller in regularly maintaining detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts  

• Provide detailed analyses and explanations of transactions  

• Participate in external audits  

• Cross-training across entire accounting department  

• Protect organization's value by keeping both internal and client information confidential  

• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance  

• 2+ years’ experience in accounting or related field  

• Advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables and Vlookups  

• NetSuite experience a plus  

• Desire and willingness to learn  

• Excellent communication and organization skills  

• Detailed oriented, professional attitude, reliable  

• Strong problem-solving skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills  

• Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures  


Physical Demands & Working Conditions:  

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment  

• No or very limited physical effort required  

• No or very limited exposure to physical risk  

• Occasional travel  


Compensation: The compensation for this position is $58,500-82,000 annually. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including experience and skillsets.
