GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for independently performing both routine and non-routine accounting and financial reporting functions for Dole Fresh Vegetables and subsidiary entities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
· Primarily assigned to payroll accounting duties:
o Updating G/L and payroll files
o Prepares exempt and non-exempt PTO monthly journal entries.
o Prepares medical adjustments and prepares journal entries.
o Monthly garnishment entries and reconciles G/L accounts against levies schedule.
o Maintains all schedules pertaining to payroll accounting and prepares monthly accruals, adjustments and reclasses.
o Manages and supports all aspects of payroll accounting and taxes.
· Obtain data necessary for month-end closing entries and perform month-end duties as assigned.
· Analyze general ledger accounts and verify the accuracy of recorded accounting transactions.
· Analyze changes in accrued liabilities, accounts payable, identifies unusual transactions or fluctuations, and provides variance explanations.
· Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
· Develop, prepare, and analyze reports for monthly close and financial reporting cycles, including payables, taxes, and other analyses.
· Assist in the development and analysis of the annual operating budget.
· Prepare and analyze multiple quarterly corporate schedules.
· Prepare various ad-hoc accounting reports as requested by management and/or corporate for month-end and quarter-end close.
· Assist both internal and external auditors with requests.
· Document general ledger account descriptions, policies and procedures and reporting requirements.
· Other internal projects and duties as assigned.
