The Automobile Club of Southern California is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our investment team. This position is responsible for preparing the investment information in the financial statements for the various entities of the organization.

What You’ll Do:

You will assist in preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements. This includes the preparation of internal financial reports for the Board of Directors and Audit Committee, as well as assist in the preparation of financial statements for external auditors and outside agencies.

You’ll perform daily reconciliation of all transactional investment activity (including buys, sells, income, paydowns, redemptions, maturities, calls) and processing of all corporate actions (spin-offs, mergers, stock splits, exchanges, etc.). Assist in researching and reconciling accounting issues for management and other departments as well as outside agencies.

You’ll assist in performing month-end close, including the review and recording of all investment journal entries, and preparation of any required supporting documentation. Also assist in preparing and analyzing all monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reports in accordance with the current reporting requirements.

You will access Bloomberg terminal to obtain the necessary information for investment securities to update the accounting system related to the daily activity (Security Master File set ups, floating rate securities, ratings, etc.).

You will assist in maintaining investment accounting system with all regulatory/software updates.

You’ll assist in performing maintenance of GAAP, STAT and TAX reporting databases, addition/deletion of portfolios/managers, and testing of software updates in “stage” environment.

Assist the investment team with daily cash management activities including approval of wires from custodian bank, ensuring that funds are available for expected cash outflows and recommending wire amounts to fund Pension disbursements. Investing overnight funds.

Develop, revise, and implement procedures when fully trained on the system and provide support to department as needed.

Work in a collaborative environment

What You'll Need:

A bachelor's degree in accounting required.

To thrive in this role, you must understand accounting principles.

Interest in pursuing CPA designation.

 Two years of accounting experience preferred but not required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, expected to have advanced level knowledge of MS Excel.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$31.76 - $42.34
