Job Overview:

It's an exciting time to join Leslie's as we transform and modernize our accounting function. This is a rare opportunity to execute improvement initiatives as we enhance our accounting infrastructure and processes. The Staff Accountant will research and prepare journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations and related analysis in support of Leslie’s financial close and reporting processes. This role interacts with other Finance & Accounting departments such as FP&A, Treasury, Accounts Payable and Receivable, as well as the various operating teams to resolve accounting matters. The role will also support external and internal auditors with various requests. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Responsibilities:   

Prepare weekly/monthly journal entries with a focus on fixed assets, CIP and maintenance expense. Analyze spend across multiple expense lines and provide explanations for major variances to prior year and budget/forecast. Prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations consistent with Company policy and internal control standards. Prepare various financial reporting schedules utilized in the Company's internal/external reporting. Answer accounting questions by researching and interpreting data Create and assist with support schedules and questions related to our quarterly reviews and annual audits. Identify and implement process improvements with manager assistance. Document processes and cross-train in other areas in order to provide support during absences. Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. 1-3 years of accounting/finance experience in a similar role working with the general ledger Foundational understanding of GAAP and internal controls required. Effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills, problem solving skills and presentation skills. Organized and extremely detail-oriented; ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams. Process oriented with a strong knowledge of applicable general ledger systems and accounting. Intermediate competency in Excel and proficient with other Microsoft Office suite products (e.g., One Note, Word, PowerPoint)
