Description We are offering a unique opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the non-profit industry. Located in Ottawa Hills, Ohio, this role involves handling various accounting duties and requires a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and practices. This is a contract to hire employment opportunity that offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment where you can make a significant impact.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the processing of weekly and monthly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees
• Manage vendor payables, ensuring all payments are made in a timely and accurate manner
• Prepare monthly financial reports, providing detailed insights into the organization's financial status
• Maintain member giving records, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate
• Handle weekly and monthly ACH transactions, ensuring all transactions are processed correctly
• Prepare and make bank deposits, ensuring all deposits are made promptly
• Administer the organization's medical, dental, and vision health plan, ensuring all aspects are managed effectively
• Prepare supporting documents for select church committees, providing detailed and accurate information
• Prepare quarterly and annual tax reports, ensuring all reporting requirements are met
• Prepare special reports and analyses as required, providing detailed insights into specific financial aspects of the organization. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Oracle, QuickBooks, NetSuite, and SAP
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
• Knowledge and experience in performing Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance and Journal Entries
• Ability to handle Month End Close activities effectively
• Prior experience working in the Non-Profit sector will be considered an advantage
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to adhering to all organizational policies and regulations
• Willingness to continue learning and improving accounting skills.
