Staff Accountant
Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team based in Montecito, California. This role plays a crucial part in our Finance department, working directly with the Director of Finance to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial and accounting reports. As a Staff Accountant, you will have the opportunity to become deeply involved in the financial aspects of our organization. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and manage accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory control, and fixed assets. • Review and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all journal entries are accurate. • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and analyses for cash and other accounts. • Review bi-weekly payroll, ensuring the accuracy of all wages, benefits, and accrual adjustments. • Assist the Director of Finance in developing annual operating and capital budgets. • Enter budget data and adjustments into financial accounting software and reconcile any differences. • Maintain accurate records for all transactions affecting budget preparation. • Prepare and review audit schedules and work with external auditors as required. • Maintain, update, and be responsible for internal accounting procedures and guidelines. • Collaborate with management teams on various accounting projects such as capital improvement projects and grant reporting. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations • Demonstrable experience with Bank Reconciliations • Solid understanding of General Ledger management • Ability to accurately process Journal Entries • Familiarity with Month End Close procedures • Proficiency in using QuickBooks software • Experience with Fixed Assets accounting • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions • Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards • Proven integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information.
